Question / Help Warning: High Encoding

So kind of what the header says. I ran into this problem just today. It was the first time Ive ever seen it. I play most of my games without this message popping up. But because it was an mmo i figure that would be the cause.

running an i5 4440k
geforce gtx 635
and the game was Elder scrolls online.

Any advice would greatly be appreciated. But if its a problem like processor may not be strong enough, bleh.

I actually changed the priority process on OBS to high, and set the priority on my process tree for ESO to above average. seemed to run a bit more smooth.

You're doing 1080p with fast. I'm amazed your other games haven't given you the error yet. Set that to 720p and it may be ok. You probably might have to use "faster" instead of "fast" as well, because MMOs are almost all CPU.

You want your duplicated and late frames to be below 1% for decent looking video. So keep adjusting your encode settings until you can achieve that in decently long streams (5 minutes or longer is typically a statistically significant test).

Your bottleneck is probably the GT 635 video card. You might try the onboard Quicksync encoder on your i5 instead of using x264 encoding. May have to enable it in your BIOS, as the OBS log doesn't even show it being available.

Other than what everyone else mentioned, you are running an in game overlay via rivatuner? if so turn it off as well. overlays can affect game capture hooks

im not using any game overlay. To get back to boildown, Im convinced that its not my processor but my graphic card. I was actually considering getting the 960 or 970. but i wasn't entirely sure if that was going to clean up my problem.

your log says rivatuner is trying to hook your game capture as well...

okay, yea I totally forgot about that running in the background. So thats disabled, and the whole high encoding has stopped showing up. But I still get lagg in game. And I assume that is a result of my graphic card.

Likely. OBS needs GPU power too, even if it is little.
