Question / Help W10 | OBS | High FPS in game but remains low and fluctuates in obs. (Usually fixed by using Vsync)

Anyone have an idea as to what is causing this issue? I hate having to use V-sync and get a bunch of delayed input. I also don't have this issue with CSGO. I don't have high encoding errors either. This occurs with both Multiplatform and regular obs.

  • Intel Core i7 6700 @ 3.40GHz
  • 32.0GB Dual-Channel (RAM)
  • ASRock H170 Pro4 (CPUSocket)
  • 2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 (EVGA)
  • 931GB Western Digital WDC WD1003FZEX-00MK2A0 (SATA) (x2)
  • 238GB Samsung SSD 850 PRO 256GB (SSD) (x1)
  • Running Windows 10 Enterprise Evaluation Edition

I am streaming with OBS on my C: drive while playing games on my (A) hard drive (dunno if this would be the issue but CS:GO is the only game on my C drive along with OBS and doesnt have the frame issues)

http://hastebin.com/atukevojaf.vhdl Most Recent Stream Log (I turned vsync on and off occasionally during the stream)

Running in Compatibility mode does not work

Setting to high priority doesn't work

It seems to be somewhat related to the processor as it tends to fluctuate more often when looking around in-game but in some titles it will go back to 50s-60 if looking at the ground.

Reinstalling did not work.

Well the intention is to stream at 60FPS. My PC can absolutely handle it. (I am streaming btw) My OBS will output 60fps only if im using vsync on the game or playing CSGO.

If I don't use vsync it drops and fluctuates like crazy but my in-game fps is unchanged and smooth.

well i got the same problem in some games. like gtaV, witcher3.. ets2, ats. ingame 60+ obs 30 and lower (720p 60fps 3300kbit/s, my connection can handle up to 9900kbit/s) on my side i think its caused by my video card (evga 750 Ti ftw edition) cuz i use the nvenc encoder. games like Osu, csgo or Elite dangerous are no problem.

i knoe alot of the guys tell every one to use the x264 and enable cbr under encoding, mabye it has to be with tht nvenc encoder

well i dont want to encode on the cpu when im playing cpu heavy games. the cpu is running 90%+ when playing gta5. thats why i encode with nvenc. my cpu is btw a amd FX6300@4.2ghz

Ive also noticed I will output 60fps to obs if I am alt tabbed but when i re-tab in I will go back to low frame rates

honestly, ive had so many obs issues, i set it to high priority via task manager and havent had a single issue what so ever, and not a single person has mentioned that , seriously give it a try, ive tried everything with no results and as soon as i did that its been a flawless stream with out any performance issues .

Running in compatibility mode for any of the previous windows OS' don't work either. This problem is severely affecting my stream schedule and income. I'm extremely upset that not a single OBS staff member has assisted me with this issue.

I've been having the same problem as well lately, however, when I click out of the game I'm in, it usually fixes itself. I think it may have something to do with on of the last Windows 10 updates.

Apparently it could potentially be a strength issue with the GPU. As soon as I invest in a stronger one I will report back if the issues persist.

so your issue is NOT with CS:GO? I see your log shows overwatch to which I dont think you need anticheat hook.

Second, you have some scenes with mix and match sources. dont use a monitor capture in the same scene as a game capture and dont have multiple game captures enabled.

lastly, dont watch your own stream on your second monitor. even the twitch dashboard. if yo uhave to glance at your stream, use internet explorer or Edge. chroms and firefox will use a a lot of CPU for DEcoding and often cause lowered frames in games and/or on stream.
