Hey there!

Typically I am a guy who likes to solve any issue that he runs into himself by surfing through the web and testing things out. There doesn't seem to be ANY information on my current problem. Here is what happened:

I plugged a small fan into the remaining slot of my powerstrip and it drew enough juice to cause both of my computers to crash repeatedly for a few seconds. Ever since this incident, the video output from my Avermedia Live Gamer HDc 985 is EXTREMELY green and white (imagine nightvision in the daytime). I've come across a lot of issues in attempting to be a streamer, but this is the first time where I have NO IDEA what the hell is happening.

I've tried a lot of different things to fix this issue: I completely reinstalled Avermedia software/firmware on the streaming computer. I reinstalled the video drivers on the gaming computer. I've messed with the HDMI cord going from the gaming computer's GPU to the capturecard in the streaming computer. I've fiddled with the displays... Tried disabling and enabling devices. As far as I know, there shouldn't be any chance of hardware damage from not enough power, but I honestly am starting to think that the capture card is now broken... (I really hope this isn't the case because there is no way I will be able to afford another one any time soon.) Right now, I am open to any suggestion or questions from anyone willing to help. I can also live stream the problem to twitch.tv/hdshine or get into a voice program to make assisting me easier.

The only clue I have is when I first noticed the problem on OBS there was a red error message that said something like "Warning! Too much encoding for the CPU to handle." Or something along those lines, but I haven't changed ANY video/encoding/quality settings and haven't had ANY problems like this for many many many months. Please... can anyone help me to figure out wtf is going on?

Solved it. After changed out HDMI cables and trying numerous other annoying things... I decided to recreate the conditions of the original incident. I made sure to have everything exactly the same as when it crashed. With stream live and PCs on load, I began to finger the power switch on my powerstrip so that the computers would crash and start/restart quickly just as when I plugged the fan in. No more bug. Before trying this dumb method I exhausted hours and hours of troubleshooting, which of course included restarting OBS and the computer over 10 times. So what the hell? Whatever, I'm happy.
