Question / Help Video stops in capture file when using Quick Sync!!?

Im having problems using Quick Sync, i have a captured video file (Game Capture Mode) where the video seems to freeze after a few minutes but i can hear the audio still playing of the capture. Any ideas what might cause the video to freeze and not be captured but for the audio capture to still carry on??

No i dont think its CPU issue, i have tried changing the settings to.....

Bitrate - 4000
Screen Res - 1280x720
Quick Sync Preset - 7 (Best Speed)

and it still get the video stopping at about 25 seconds in, i have tried a few attempt and it always seem to be around the 25-40 second mark that the video just seems to stop but the audio carries on

i have a......

i7 CPU overclocloked to 4.2GHz
16GB RAM
AMD 7970 3GB GPU

so my system is no slouch

Heres, the log for a 5 minute recording session....

It does report 42% of frame are lost due to encoder lag, but i have tried lower settings and get the same results!. So maybe Quick Sync is broken in OSB ?

QuickSync may not be able to handle that resolution. What happens when you use 1080p? If Quicksync can't handle 1440p, you may be forced to use x264.

I tired a res of 1280x720 and still got the same results. I basically put everything on low

1280x720 res
4000 bitrate
Quick Sync Preset - 7 (Best Speed)

Even with those low settings, the video still crapped out about 25 seconds in

The base resolution or the output resolution? Normally we only have to be really concerned with the output resolution, but I wonder if QSV can't handle a 1440p base resolution.

Thats seem to of fixed the issue, but how can i capture at 1080p.

Is it a common thing that Quick Sync is unable to capture at 1080p?

I'm sure if the original resolution (of your monitor) was 1080p, Quicksync would handle it just fine. Its not that uncommon for hardware encoders to have such limitations (i.e. not handling 1440p well).
