Question / Help Video adapter blank

I'm on a pretty old laptop, trying to stream for the first time and I'm a newbie at using this program. But the video adapter section is completely blank and I can't pick anything there. I'm not sure what the problem is.
 
Does it work at all when you try to preview? You can probably ignore the adapter selection, you most likely only have an intel integrated. If OBS comes up with the "Could not create swap chain" or whatever error it is, then the integrated chip you use is currently incompatible with OBS.
 
I have the same issue. I'm doing what I can to update my system so I may livestream (via Twitch) but so far I've hit brick walls. I'm trying one last thing to see if I need to buy extra parts or if I should just invest in a new computer.

As a list, these are the things I've done to try and fix this problem:

Updated my video card
Updated my Windows Vista platform
Updated my DirectX10

Now I'm currently updating my integrated chip to see if that works. If you have any suggestions on what I should do besides this, please respond.
