Question / Help Using OBS to Emulate a Webcam?

Hi there, how are you?


For about six months now I've been using OBS to expand relationships with my long distance friends by setting up OBS scenes (for both gaming/desktop) and sharing it with them over Skype, in attempt to contextualize longer conversation a little better. For the most part this has been great, but I'm looking to improve the experience.

How I currently do it is by setting up the scene and previewing the stream fullscreen on my second monitor, and then using Skype's Screenshare function to forward the OBS footage to my friends. However, the Screenshare is ridden in annoyances such as subpar framerates, regular pixalation, Ioosing an entire screen worth of real estate, ect.

So I was wondering, is there any known way to use the OBS stream to emulate a webcam (directly) so I can use utilize the webcam feed instead? I've tried other webcam emulation software, but those are typically of shaky quality that do little to actually improve the situation.


Any advice, pointers or hints would be most appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Or you could point your webcam at your screen :) but I cant honestly think of a way to fix the screen cap issue other than what you are doing.
