Question / Help Using OBS like ManyCams in online teaching?

Hi. I work as a teacher online and was wondering if it's possible to use OBS to add some effects found in Many Cams software. I'm thinking of overlays (eg borders), background images, adding facial recognition and other "fun" effects.

I'm mostly using Zoom and other propertiary software such as TalkCloud or ClassIn. So the idea is to have an intermediary program adding those effects. ManyCams does that but I thought I would try open source solutions first. It's not even that you have to pay the yearly license, I just find it a bit overbearing and controlling, plus don' t really trust them re: privacy.

I've also tried Webcamoid, it does have some cool effects, but few taht I could actually use at work. Also I couldn't see any option for background images and it hasn't been updated for ages.

I had a quick look at the guides here but it's all a bit overwhelming so I thought I'd ask here, perhaps somebody has experience with this kind of work and could advise. Any help is most appreciated.

I don't know what kind of effects you really need, but you can add borders, overlays and images with OBS by creating images with these items and add them as media source in OBS in your scenes. By using transparency and color key filters, you can make them melt with the background. Even animated stuff is possible this way.

Thanks, it's nice to know. But I'm still a bit lost...not even sure how to make the other programs see the OBS output. As I said it'd have to act as a intermediary, it's not my main platform. Is this possible?

I was wondering about similar effect filters in OBS. ManyCams can do that, however, I thought I could try an open source software or any similar tool first for my projects and custom writing service portfolio of online classes ...

Hi, I've been using OBS-VirtualCam for my presentations and it's perfect for this task. I also tried to integrate it with vMix.
