I somewhere heard the background removal tech, goes about how the cam sees depth and borders. Not sure about this. @XeiZ Is there no option to influence the background removal depth/lighting?

Yes but it cant circumvent how your actual room is lit.

The way logitech does this with the c922 is software sided with personify, while the stargazer uses realsense which from my knowledge uses 2 lenses on the actual hardware etc. So it might very well be that the stargazer is more effective.

Yeah, the background removal for both the C992/x and the Stargazer, even, are both kinda sub-par. I don't think software-based solutions will ever be as good as hardware ones. That pretty much goes for anything, though. That said, hardware will ALWAYS do what software can do, better. At least when it comes to this field.

A physical green screen will always be better than any software-based solution, is basically what it boils down to. But if you plan on using a software solution, unfortunately, after using both the C992 and the Stargazer now, it's still looking like the Logitech seems to do a better job.

I have been away for a bit, so I am just getting caught back up on my original post.

Setting up a green background with lights in front of me isn't the best answer for me for several reasons. The biggest being that my wife would kill me having something hanging from the ceiling of our basement, LOL.

I guess I will just hold out until there is an update that supports this. Someone said they thought it would be in 0.17, any idea when that might be coming?

You can get collapsible greenscreens which stow in a bag and are sprung to retain their shape when unfolded. If you've got something you can clamp them to, you can set up and put away a greenscreen in seconds.

I have been struggling with using my Razer Stargazer with OBS until now and am posting what worked for me.
1. I deleted OBS, intel realsense anything related
2. unplugged stargazer
3. rebooted
4. plugged stargazer in
5. went to https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25044/Intel-RealSense-Depth-Camera-Manager and download specifically intel_rs_dcm_sr300 which was the one recommended for razer stargazer on their forums
6. went to https://obsproject.com/ and downloaded latest obs studio. (currently 18.0.1)
when installing obs, make sure to check the "realsense plugin" to install that
7. launch obs
8. setting up camera add source as "intel(r)Realsense(TM) 3D Camera Green Screen" source
worked immediately.
lighting makes a huge difference in quality of camera and background removal.
hope this helps anyone

Hey xphnctre,
Thank you!
All I had to do was install intel_rs_dcm_sr300 from https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25044/Intel-RealSense-Depth-Camera-Manager
and restarted my PC.. and it works! FINALLY! I previous had the old SDK installed, but I left it.. so really cool all I needed was that install file. Didn't even need to reinstall OBS.. it just works and works really well!
And yes you're right you do need good lighting.. preferably a bright 6500K LED bulb or bulbs (difused a bit) like 2 1/2 feet from your face. But looks amazing.
