Question / Help Upgraded to Windows 8 seeing huge lag

So I was getting QVSENC crashes on Windows 7 and I googled it said that Windows 8 is where Quick Sync Video 2.0 for Intel is meant for but, since I upgraded even with tweaks here and there I see my FPS in SC2 Legacy of the Void beta go down to a literal zero. I have disabled my two other monitors and I am outputting to twitch in 720p quick sync 30fps I don't see why it should choke this bad. Why does Windows 8 lag so much?

I use a GTX 780, a Z77 mobo with intel i7 3770k, and 16GB ram. SSD HDD.

It looks like 30% over 8 cores, but it feels like 98% the sound stutters it can crash it gets to be intense 0 FPS lag. edit: Some kind of negative feedback loop?

I bet you your sound card's audio bitrate is 48kHz and you have OBS set to 44.1kHz. to check right click on the speak by the click and select playback devices, doubleclick on you speakers and click the advanced tab. It will say something like 24bit 48000 Hz (Studio Quality). If it looks like this, then change OBS's audio to 48kHz. Second, disable the OBS preview window might help as well (right click on the preview window, select preview, uncheck "enable view").

EDIT: also disable C states in the BIOS. your CPU might be throttling and also check for excessive heat since QSV runs off the CPU, when it downclocks, it will affect both SC2 and OBS.

It was already at 441 and, even turning the preview window off eventually it starts to lag out like no tommorrow. I streamed for 20 hours straight on Windows 7 without a memory leak like this. I have a new CPU coming in the mail... It does this even without the game open I don't see a C states option on my Z77 bios but I'll scan for it again right now.

Was that the default for the sound card? If so thats fine, if not, set whatever the sound card was set to.

Question, what was the reason for the new CPU purchase and which CPU?

try setting all audio devices to 48.1 kHz because that is what your cap card is going to use. otherwise, it will have to encode the audio back and forth.

It seems to be OK now I should be able to use it for streaming with a new laptop but, its a shame I thought I'd be able to stream without having a new PC but I found the laptop I need.

Did I miss something? New CPU, New laptop?

Also, can you do me a favor and make a new scene with just a game or window capture (no monitor capture) and run a 5 minute encoding test then post your log? Make sure you give it full action in you recording test

I am going to buy this laptop. Will run an HDMI from it to my old PC and use my old PC as the streaming box just going to sell the GTX 760 on craigslist.

First run with window captured it went to zero FPS and couldn't even save the log file.

It didn't create a log file but here is the recording of game capture the FPS for window capture was even worse it slowly made its way to zero here is the link.

Looks like I will buy this laptop today just need to move some finances around.

edit: Will still need to fix it or format it back to Windows 7 because the memory leak/fps leak happens regardless.

Its your stuff, but a dedicated stream PC will need a decent GPU like your 760. dedicated with integrated GPU will suffer a lot.

Do me a favor, using x264, remove the monitor capture, remove the two webcams and just add in a game capture does that make a difference? I dont care about performance as much as I want to see a log without two webcams and a monitor capture.

I cannot get it to even make a log. No log comes out. The webcams don't make a difference its an i7 man I had this running on Windows 7 I might a well just format and go back to that. I think the intel 4000 should be enough to stream it goes up to 1080p and it will just be capturing I could use my i3 laptop to stream to be honest. However I can attempt to do what your asking but, again its been set to game capture/window capture it won't make the log. That is streaming to twitch as well without the log coming out I can try again let me just run glary tools smoke a doob, and I will do what your asking.

I can hold onto the video card its just the price just sky rocketed way past what I paid for it its so advantageous to sell it right now as its more than double what I paid for it on eBay right now.

Yeah this is just for troubleshooting.
you can watch the log as its doing its thing. click help, show log menu. start OBS, make a new scene, then build a game capture, press preview, anything?

I think Opera and Firefox are memory leaking in a terrible way as well...

edit: Tried your suggestions here.

Thanks for the help sorry if I enrage you trying to get this to work.

(I think I will save my sheckles for a Surface Pro 4.)

x264 gets the high encoding CPU usage warning right off the get go.

Hmmm I thought it was better but, no no its not :P still the same problem since re installation. Gotta wait until August than I'll get the SP4 and than capture off that onto my avertech media app on here than play through the app onto twitch or from the SP4 I'll have to see its screen before I pay for it that is for certain needs to be 5ms or lower.
