Question / Help Unsupported Video Codec.

Hello.

I am aspiring YouTube looking to make gaming videos. I have had OBS for a while and have made a few videos to test out how it runs on my computer. These were recorded in MP4 format since FLV was not supported by Windows Media Player.

A few days ago I was ready to make my first real video and recorded about 10 minutes of footage. Unfortunately, when I tried to play the file, this error popped up.

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."

I have no knowledge of what a codec is.... nor how to fix this issue. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Gabe

Use VLC Media Player, it comes with its own codecs.
Alternatively, install a codec pack like the CCCodec Pack or K-Lite Codec Pack.

Thanks for the help guys! I got it working again!

I don't understand why WMP worked and then stopped working though...
