Question / Help Trying to crop out fuzzy section of camera (with screenshot)

I'm new to OBS, so sorry for the NOOB question.

I've got 2 camera's and 3 scenes. The first scene is camera #1, the second scene is camera #2 and the third scene is camera #1&2 together.

The problem is, both camera's have a fuzzy section at the bottom. The section is not present on the actual camera, its more like dead space that the video capture card throws in.

Im using a startech USB capture card for both camera's.

I can crop this fuzzy area of the full screen photos by simply enlarging the screen and the bottom falls out of view (where the fuzzy part is), but I'm not sure how to crop it out of the shot with 2 camera's, as camera #2 I want to put in the top right...so the fuzzy part looks like the screenshot.

I tried to change the resolution from 720x568 to 720x480, but it says "not supported" when I try to switch it.

Can I actually crop the camera shot? Right now I'm just able to drag the screen bigger and smaller. Am I missing something simple?

Let me know,

It seems like that cam is cutting off a part from the top of the image and plays it on the bottom.
Does that cam also have that image in other programs?

But as far i know: video capture doesn't have an area selection.
(i'm assuming u used a video capture there, if it's a window capture you can select sub-region in the source properties.)

Hold the ALT Key for cropping ;)

Did not work for me. I tried holding alt and resizing from the bottom of the frame up. It still resized the length and width at the same time.

I did this from the "edit scene" in the preview screen.

Let me know,

hmm...

When I hold Alt and resize it only crops the side i selected and the border will turn green.

unclejemima using a very old version of OBS, in which the cropping doesn't quite work properly. Update OBS to fix it.

Good idea...but when I updated to the latest version, it will not read my USB capture card.(my version is only 5-6 months old I think)

I had to re-install the old version to get it to work again!

Any ideas why that would be?

Between the old version (0.472b) and the current one (0.552b), a lot changed when it comes to capture devices, depending on how well the drivers for it are made, you may have to specify a custom resolution (a proper resolution, some drivers will pick the wrong resolution, rather than the one with an actual signal) and a color format. It is also possible that you just have to delete the source from the sources list and re-add the capture card as a video capture device.
