Question / Help Trouble with getting a picture.

I have an avermedia gamebroadcaster HD and I can get picture when I use a really low resolution but when I turn it up onto a higher resolution(and I do this for both OBS and my avermedia program so they match) I get a green screen and sometimes a bunch of lines randomly through the image. Why can I not get the picture to display normally?

can you be more specific with the resolution you are trying?

I am trying to use 1920 x 1080 but I have been messing around with every resolution option in obs. 720x480, 640x480 and 720x576 all work but once I hit 800x600 and higher my screen goes all weird. I can add a screen shot if that would help.

well I'm assuming that your 720@59.98 worked. your card will capture 1080@60hz but only will stream 1080@30 btw. this might be your issue.
frameIntervals: 166833 = 59.98 frames/Hz I believe

set your frames to 30fps in all windows and set your resolution to 1080 for all else.

If you are referring to my monitor then yes. I do not know what else you would be referring to. I changed all of the settings to 30 fps and the resolutions to 1080 but no luck. still get a green screen. here's a screenshot. I turned off the webcam so you could see the whole screen with the overlay on it.

The Game Broadcaster HD doesn't have a built in scaler, it won't change the input resolution into something else for the output. You should be configuring the capture card settings to match your source resolution, i.e. the content you're sending to the capture card. If you send it 1280x720 video then that's what it should be set at in your video capture source properties. What resolution and frame rate are you sending to the capture card? From what type of device?

im hooking up my xbox one to my hdmi splitter which goes to my monitor and to my capture card in my computer. I have changed the settings in obs and in my avermedia program for the capture card settings. they are all changed to the same thing.

You didn't provide a complete answer to my question - what resolution are you sending from your Xbox One? If you don't know, go into the console's configuration options and look. Is that the resolution you've configured for your video capture source in OBS?

while in-game, it might not have the same resolution as the main window. something to check, do you see picture from the main window? how about in the native software from game broadcaster HD? if you aren't getting picture here, its something with your cabling or hardware

the main window of what? the native software is set to all settings on 1080 and 30 fps. and what hardware issue could it be if it does other resolutions but not the higher one? I have my xbox plugged into a powered hdmi splitter that goes into my cap card in my pc and the other port into my monitor. xbox is set to 1080, obs is set to 1080, game broadcaster software is set to 1080 and all set to 30 fps(if that setting is available). So I dont know what else it could be.

can you see a picture in the game broadcaster software?
