Bug Report Tiny freezes

Was streaming WoW for about an hour and like 40ish minutes in I started to get these very very short but annoying ingame freezes which were bit longer on the stream(talking about 0,2-0,4 seconds freezes or something).Havent had such a problem before.Any ideas?

PS:First time I am streaming with the newest build if I remember correctly.Didnt have any issues like this before.Streaming for hours etc.

Here is the log file.Playing @ 1920x1080 but I downscaled it to 720p.

Wow... you have a lot of lagged frames. Also, your bitrate and buffer is way too high. I don't advise having bitrate different from buffer. 5400 is way too high. I would first try changing your bitrate and buffer to both 3400 and see if that helps.

What is your upload speed?

I would try using 30fps if you are going to downscale to 720p. I would also try changing your bitrate and buffer to 4000.

If you still have problems, wait for a more experienced member to come in and help ;)

So 720p with 45 fps and 4k/4k bitrate didnt help much.No freezes ingame but there were freezes on the stream for like half a second then jumping to the current frame.

As I mentioned this is happening only since I got the newest version.Before that I dont remember the version I did it with but I tested streaming 1080p @ 60fps with 10k max bitrate and 20k buffer and it was fine.Got couple of ppl that managed to watch it and they said its amazing.Pretty much exactly what I am seing ingame was on the stream quality wise.

Any advice?Streaming mainly WoW - consider its highly movement intense game.

Very strange...your internet speeds should be great but the log looks to me like it's having trouble communicating with the streaming server. It's possible that the Frankfurt Twitch server is just bad. Try using JTVPing to find other servers to stream to that might work well: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmes ... _id=326034

Your average time per frame is high, too. It takes your system 18.7ms to render each frame on your quality settings, which is too slow for 60fps, and only marginally enough for 45fps.

The first thing I'd recommend is using Game Capture to capture WoW, not Monitor capture. Game capture performs MUCH better than monitor capture, so maybe that can improve your streaming performance. Try that and see what happens. You will have to use 64bit OBS (which you already appear to be using) to do it.

Also, as a small thing, I also recommend lowering your Quality from 10 down to around 6-7 or so to help reduce pixelation in high-movement scenes. That probably won't affect your performance, but might help your stream quality a bit.

As a last note, Twitch considers it an abuse of their system if you stream at crazy high bit rates like 6k and higher. I don't recommend streaming at 10k, because a) Twitch might shut you down, and b) many viewers won't have the bandwidth to watch you in the first place.

Thanks for the advices.First I dont stream at 6k+ bitrate.I know not so many ppl will be able to watch it.I was just saying that I tryed it out to see how it works before, with earlier version of the program, and it was working flawlessly.

Second I know about that program and I used it to choose my server.Testing right now Frankfurt is still the server I have lowest ping to-30 ms.Amsterdam is 36 altho Amsterdam one got bit lower jitter but I doubt that will make it a better choice.

It might be something to do with my PC that got fucked up or my router/switch so my stream is worse now-no idea.Any chance of suggesting which part of the PC might be causing the problems with the slow rendering time or anything I can check on the router/switch?Not very into hardware and stuff.But anyway it only started to happen with the newest version of OBS so I thought it had something to do with it.

About Game Capture-thing is I alt tab quite often and I dont have 2nd screen so everytime I alt tab to check my stream's chat for ex the stream will freeze(or black out dunno which one of the two was happening).If I am to use Game Capture is it better to add it as a Global Source then add it to a scene or it wont make any difference?

If you alt tab, your game stops rendering so there's nothing for game capture to show. The only fix for that would be to not play in fullscreen. (Can still game capture fullscreen windowed)

I am aware of that m8. :) Was just pointing out why I am not using Game Capture but Software Capture with Windowed Fullscreen. ;)

Looking at your log, the profiler says it's spending most of its time in the scene preprocessing, so that tells me that your capture method is what's taking the most time. Your rig look looks pretty good to me, so I don't see any reason you shouldn't be able to play in fullscreen windowed mode (borderless) to avoid the freezing when alt-tabbed. I definitely recommend trying Game Capture to see if things improve. You don't have to have the Game Capture source as a global source unless you plan on including the game source in another scene. You don't have to use another scene unless you have another set of things you want to stream. (You could have another scene with Monitor capture if you wanted to stream your desktop, for example, but remember that it's slower than game capture!)

I thought Game Capture only works if I am playing at Fullscreen mode and not in Windowed Fullscreen.I am defenetly going to try that out.
And for last seing you are quite familiar with streaming (or well more familiar than me atleast thats for sure)-seing my specs and i-net connection what would you recommend me to stream at: 1080p/720p ; 60/45/30 fps ; 10-9-etc etc quality?

I can't really answer that question for you because it largely depends on what your computer can handle, what you want to do, and what your Twitch server can handle...

If I had to pick one, I'd say 720p60...people tend to prefer smooth streams over high-resolution ones. If you can do 1080p60, then great! But because of the larger resolution, if you use the same bit rate, the picture will be more pixelated than 720p60 I think. Your internet can handle 4k/4k and I don't recommend streaming at a higher bit rate than that, so I think a 4k/4k 720p60 might look sharper than a 4k/4k 1080p60 stream, in theory...I haven't tested it all myself. In the end, it's up to you, though. You can experiment and find what you like best!

Well tryed what you suggested.Ran @ 720p/60fps with 4k/4k and 7 quality using Game Capture in Windowed Fullscreen.No problems ingame tho there are freezes on the stream for even longer now-like 1-2 seconds then skipping directly to the current frame.

Hey Jim.If you read my previous posts it might clear things abit.As I mentioned this is only happening since I started using the 0.466 version of OBS.Before that I tested streaming @ 10000 bitrate with 20000 buffer 1080p @ 60 fps and it was flawless (for the couple of people that got the connection to actualy watch it).You can see in one of my posts I shared my internet connection speed which in all fairness is quite good as I have been comparing it with people around Europe from my WoW guild.It still can be connection issue, router/switch problem I dont know.Or even something with my PC got fucker up no idea.I just know that it started happening with the 0.466 version of OBS so the first thought that accured to me was that it has something to do with that. :(

My guess is that it's a problem with the Frankfurt Twitch server. You can try lowering your bit rate or try a different server...I have heard that Frankfurt isn't that reliable.

Seems like changing the server from Frankfurt to Amsterdam solved the freezes problem.Will test bit more and see if it keeps steady.

Yes, Europe servers are definitely seem to be more temperamental than NA ones, especially when big events like IEM are going on.

I wouldn't recommend streaming to this server all the time, but you can try the Ashburn servers if you ever have problems with the European servers again. They are generally really solid.
