Question / Help Supported OBS Capture Cards

Hi guys. Wondering what are the best capture cards that are natively supported in OBS.

I currently have a Elgato HD Game Capture which I use to stream PS3 content but I can't quite get the colours/brightness right in the Elgato settings. For example I was streaming Far Cry 3 today and when you stand out in the daytime on the beach, the sand is super-bright which looks unnatural and ends up irritating my eyes. My settings for the 'picture' in the Elgato software are as follows:

Brightness - [10]
Contrast - [-15]
Saturation - [-15]
Hue - [-10]

I took a 1920x1080 colour calibration picture and apart from the weird brightness everything else is fine. Since I can't get the right setting i'm after a new capture card that is natively supported in OBS like the Elgato HD Game Capture is without having to resort to 'Screen Capture' and messing about with re-sizing/cropping.

If you know of any decent card or maybe even have different settings I could use then 'i'm all ears.

Thanks.

Best one currently on the market for livestreaming purposes is the Yuan SC512, otherwise known as the Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI. More expensive than a starter-grade piece of Avermedia, but worth every penny.

What's your budget, then?

$8 - Easycap. Available on Amazon.
$50 - There is no $50 range worth speaking about. Next.
$120 - Elgato. You have one of these already. Try again.
$150 - AverMedia C985. Starter-grade capture card, HDMI only, but works. Most AM junk falls into this tier.
$200 - Yuan SC512 (recommended above). Medium-grade cap card. Well worth the extra $50.

Honorable Mentions:
BlackMagic Intensity Pro - Finicky and fragile, costs about the same as the above. Used to be an awesome go-to, now there are better options.
Hauppage HDPVR2 - Works natively with OBS-MP (but not Classic), a popular 'budget' choice (with the number of people who buy them and then have problems and post here).
Other AverMedia crap. See entry for C985, then ignore this and go for the Yuan. Skip a couple of fast food meals.
XCAPTURE-1 - Useful if you only have a laptop with a USB 3.0 port, probably the best option. Also most expensive at upward of $300. On par with the SC512, but more problems because of USB 3.0 and separate driver packages.
Datapath - If an SC512 is too costly, don't even bother looking at these, as they're closer to four figures (or significantly above). Also studio-grade gear, generally don't record embedded audio, and have other considerations.

Be aware that FC3 does use bloom fairly aggressively in some sections, and a lot of those settings seem to suggest a very washed-out picture overall, with the killed contrast and saturation. Otherwise, may need @LtRoyalShrimp to provide input. Could be worth trying a reset to defaults though.

Just took a look at your past broadcasts, and the colors look absolutely fine to me (Viewed from a Macbook pro)

There's this p.o.s. in the ~$50 range: https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/would-the-timeleak-hd72a-work-with-obs.9674 Only really viable if you'd run your PS3 at 720p.

Just checked Ebay and I don't see any good Ebay deals on Datapath cards.

There's also this at $129: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA4UG2WH7659 , basically a AverMedia C985 without the easy button or software, from what I can tell.

If your main concern is video quality, you might be wary of the cheap options though. No telling if they're any better than what you've got now.
