Hey,
you are coming from youtube right? :)
Normally you can select your Live Gamer HD when you add a "Video Capture Device" to your sources. In the video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-ZAuegafSc) I do this at minute 4. In my example I add Dxtory as the example device. But right there you would select Avermedia Live Gamer HD in the dropdown.
If you cannot select the LG HD in the dropdown, please report back.

One thing I will ask in the case of it not showing up in OBS: Does it work fine in the RecCentral software?

It sounds like you're using the passthrough. A better way is to clone your display, send one to your monitor as usual, the second to your encoder PC's capture card. And then don't use RecCentral at all, just use OBS. For audio use the line in on your encoder PC's audio card, because the Avermedia's audio ins are bad quality.

@ Jack0r @ Boildown, i have question regarding sound, prior building this PC with LGHD i was using Avermedia LGP only for recording ( because i know it sucks with OBS) . r the way i have connected now is that i use a 3.5mm splitter to send my souncard output to the LGP and LGHD but now both sound " mono" .. should i ll be getting a splitter with booster or other device.

thank you!

Yea, the 3.5mm splitter could be stereo to mono, I guess?! Maybe you can test that by connecting a headset to one of the outputs. A booster is normally not needed. Also check boildowns examples.

I personally also used to send sound over hdmi or over network. For example if you use your onboard soundcard for output and it has a stereo mixer, you can use that stereo mix to "forward" the sound to your HDMI sound device, or to send it to your second PC using teamspeak for example.

You're using one of these: http://www.monoprice.com/Product?&p_id=5614

Not one of these: http://www.monoprice.com/Product?&p_id=666

Right?

Anyways, I use the former and it works fine. One goes to my headphones, the other goes to my encoder PC sound card's line in.

i;m using this

i use a usb headset so i use one sound card output one splits to my LGP and the other one to the LGHD .. i have the feeling i picked up the wrong produc...

Yeah I avoided USB headphones for just that reason. I use true analog 7.1 headphones and split out the fronts. The center/sub/surrounds don't get sent to the encoder PC but its hard to tell the difference.
