Question / Help Suddenly Getting High Encoding

I have been streaming for the past few weeks without any issues. I normally play Rocket League and H1Z1 without any issues. I got some high encoding with GTA V but I know that is a demanding game.

Recently I have been getting high encoding on OBS with games that I never had any issues with before. Even in the preview. I have ran virus scans using Avast, scanned for malware using Malwarebytes and Hitman Pro.

The only things I have installed recently were games from Steam.

My bitrate has already been lowered and my resolution has always been scaled down to 720. Any suggestions?

01:07:07: Base resolution: 1280x720
01:07:07: Output resolution: 1280x720

Leave your base resolution at your native monitor resolution, and then use a downscale, instead of setting your base resolution to your intended output resolution.

Your computer is duplicating 17% or so, which means its not even close to keeping up. Hopefully the above takes care of it, if not, then you'll have to take more drastic action.

You claim that it was working better before... do you have logs from those times?

I want to say I had no issues in January. I just started noticing the high encoding in the past week or so.

I want to say I had no issues in January. I just started noticing the high encoding in the past week or so.

Well in that log I see this:

20:25:11: Total frames encoded: 135030, total frames duplicated: 9645 (7.14%)
20:25:11: Total frames rendered: 132322, number of late frames: 2579 (1.95%) (it's okay for some frames to be late)

So you definitely had issues on Jan 31st, even if you didn't notice it at the time. 7% duplicated frames is quite bad, you need it to be under 1% to look decent. This isn't as bad as your recent log with 17% duplicated frames though.

Some other threads suggested lowering my webcam resolution so I did that as well. Wont be able to test until tonight.

Also shot you a follow on Twitch! Off topic question: Is having a dedicated stream PC worth it?

So what could be causing this issue?

My guess is this:
Leave your base resolution at your native monitor resolution, and then use a downscale, instead of setting your base resolution to your intended output resolution.

Off topic question: Is having a dedicated stream PC worth it?
Haven't streamed in the past month because Daybreak "broke" Planetside 2, and I refuse to play it until they fix what they broke. I'm playing ESO instead, and I consider ESO (and MMORPGs in general) to be boring as hell to watch someone else play PvE content, so I don't stream it. I like MMORPG PvP, but I'm not doing much of that at this point in ESO.

But to answer your question... No? Its not needed anyways, I do it as a hobby because I think the technical side is interesting and cool. But from a strictly price/performance point of view, I'd be better off without a dedicated PC and not buying that capture card, and with the money getting a 6-core Extreme CPU, OC'ing the shit out of it, and using game capture. There are pros and cons to each alternative of course, it is not black and white worse or better, or worth it or not worth it.
