Bug Report Suddenly Audio Problem Pls Help?!? [Resolved]

I can hear audio just fine. All programs can be heard on my headset / speakers. However when I record, Obs only picks up my mic; no desktop audio besides skype (so no game sound, youtube, music, etc) whatsoever. I've tried every source, this is not the problem. I've tried checking the sound properties, this is not the problem. Upon trial and error, troubleshooting, etc. I came upon a few hints at what might be causing this, hopefully we can use them to help me figure this out:
1) Obs records skype clear as day.
2) The only non skype sounds Obs picks up is windows alert noises like the ping sound when you hold a key without being in a dialog box or the requires admin permission alert noise
3) I can hear all sounds perfectly, but there are no levels showing when i have the volume mixer open (both master levels and individual program sound levels). Again, the correct source is selected, both in windows and in obs.

I think 3) is the key here. Why can I hear, but no sounds are recorded or displayed in the mixer interface?
I'm posting this before bed. If you have some leads or possible fixes, I'd really appreciate the help. I wouldn't post if I didn't feel like I exhausted my own methods of troubleshooting/ google's methods. I'll report back in after work to anybody's suggestions/questions

Thanks in advance!

You need to disable GX mode in your xonar control panel. Button on the bottom right I believe.

Re: Suddenly Audio Problem Pls Help?!?

Jim,
Thanks for the quick reply last night. I tried your fix after work about an hour ago to no avail. I did some thinking at work today, and thought Windows possibly changed default audio settings without telling me, or maybe my driver corrupted for my Xonar. I reset all my sound settings, in Xonar Interface, Windows Sound Properties, and in OBS, restarted, and still no fix. So as a last resort I uninstalled all audio drivers, and reinstalled and re-enabled onboard to make sure it wasn't like a pcie problem with my soundcard. Obs picked up Onboard audio. So i disabled onboard and reinstalled drivers for my Xonar Soundcard, restarted, and did a test. BAM! That was it. Somehow my drivers must have bugged out and couldn't be detected with windows mixer, and therefore, however OBS hooks into that and records it. So we're back up and running!

I know I could have just said "I fixed it," but I feel that being detailed could possibly help somebody who runs into this in the future. If you wanna tag the post as fixed and possibly add "Xonar" to the title for easier searching, people might appreciate it in the future.
