Question / Help Streaming with a non supported capture card

So I got a startech USB2HDCAP its pretty much the same as the newer usb 3.0 one but doesnt output 1080p60fps when live recording. I cant find a broadcasting software that supports it so my ghetto fix to this was to try to record my desktop and only crop the window where the software that came with it is showing the recording. Unfortunately nothing is coming up. its just a square of dark pruple fuzz. I can see my mouse moving over it, I can see the user interface of the software but i just cant see the gameplay. since its an old console game i thought the problem was in the resolution or the frame rate, but no matter how much I play around with it the same thing happens.

Setup details.

I'm playing Super Smash Bros melee on a Wii going in with component into the capture card and out into my tv.
I setup my wii to output 480i since im playing on a CRT TV (gotta love cheap lagless tvs).

So yeah if anyone has thought of a way to stream with a capture card that has no native streaming function and is not supported by obs , or maybe find a fix to my problem that will be very much appreciated :)

Dark purple? Try moving a dark purple area to on top of video software. if you see partial video through it, then its using hardware overlay making it not easy to capture.

Close down the other video capture as for the most part, no 2 programs can use the same capture device at the same time. Try to use OBS video capture, and in the settings, try custom input resolution of 720x480 (for 480p/i), and maybe use Crossbar to get the correct audio+video inputs.

Maybe try OBS-studio, but OBS-studio lack any deinterlacing (this is being added very soon).

Thanks for the reply. I said dark purple because is not quite pitch black. Its kind of like crt static but instead of black and white its more like black and less dark black (it feels a little purply to me). I'm gonna try moving a dark purple are on top of it. But not entirely sure how to do that?. I already tried video capture with those settings and used like every crossbar setting and no luck. OBS studio was no good either :(
