Question / Help Streaming Picture Corruption

Hey guys,

My setup works 99% of the time but every now and again my OBS picks up what looks like image corruption. It lasts until i switch scene then switch back and then it's fixed again and can go days or a few hours without it happening again.

I've made a video from one of my twitch streams, any idea what it could be?

It doesn't happen when streaming pc games, only when streaming from my PS4. So i'm not sure if it's my Capture Card, HDMI Switch or cable as i've no spare ones or even if it's just OBS as scene switching seems to fix it. Maybe it's a setting that isn't liked or something.

/edit Setup provided

i5 2500k
8gig Ram
ASRock Z68 Extreme 4 Gen3
OBS 64bit
Avermedia Live Gamer HD

PS4 Setup hdmi into switch, hdmi output goes into capture card and one into my monitor with optical from PS4 straight into sound card.

you do have a spare cable, just flip-flop the ends :) well not a spare but reversing the cable has fixed a few issues for me. especially with cheap cabled. yeah, seems like something with either cabling IMO

Yeah that's what i'm thinking, i doubt it's the splitter as my monitor that one of the output is going from when playing is fine. It's just the image it's picking up from the Capture Card, so i assume that when i switch scenes it gets rid of the image and when switching back it refreshes it and gets rid of the corruption.

I'll try the switching it around option, might just get a new HDMI cable as well as see if that makes a difference. If not then can cross that theory of the list.

Also, post your logfile when you need assistance just in case. maybe your scene buffering needs to be a bit higher (700ms or higher recommended)

Right i'll get that sorted, wondered why they took a long time.

Yeah that's an idea, might up it to 60 but will i see that much of a difference?

Cheers for the help, greatly appreciated. Just ordered another HDMI hoping that sorts it out if not back to the drawing board.

your bitrate wont look good with 60fps. so best to just set everything to 30.

You sure it's capturing at 60fps? Just checked my setting for my capture card and it shows at 30fps.

in OBS, the capture card shows its untaking at 60fps which is a frame interval of 16.6666ms
Code:
frameIntervals: 166666-666666

Eiterh way, that was something else I noticed.

I've added them now, i'll get back to you after i stream next, tonight at some point. It would be super easy to test, but it is so random and doesn't always happen.

Should have another HDMI cable coming tomorrow so if it still does, that's another thing that can be tested.
