Question / Help Streaming PC?

Hey,

I have two computers one gaming PC with a watercooled i7 4790k and a GTX 980.

And my other pc that I built for fun has i7 2600 3,4 GHz and no gpu.

So what do I need to make it as a streaming/encoding pc?

I guess I need a HDMI splitter and a capture card. Can anyone recommend me a cheap capture card?

But what do I do with the sound? I got a USB headset XD

Thanks in advance!

Other way would be RTMP server. You can stream from your gaming pc about 25k bitrate and use quicksync. Do everything else with streaming pc.

You either go with cheap or good for capture cards.
There is no middle ground.

The cheap ones aren't worth the hassle.

Start at a minimum of USB 3.0 or pci-e card.

Okey, could you link me a capture card you recommend, and what do I do with my USB headset?

Stuff like the startech PEXHDCAP60L or USB3HDCAP as well as blackmagic intensity cards are going to be pretty close to entry level for good cards.
Some people swear by avermedia.

AVOID ELGATO LIKE THE PLAGUE.

USB Headsets make audio routing potentially VERY complicated. You may need to involve virtual audio cables to get things captured properly.

You need to figure out how you're going to do the audio, and once that's figured out, look for a capture card, imo. The USB audio issue may scrap your whole plan or make you decide to get a physical sound card and new headphones.

Check the Twitch link in my sig, my 2 PC setup (other than USB audio, which I don't use) is very similar to your 2 PCs.

You don't need an HDMI splitter, although they can be used. Instead you can duplicate your screen to the output that will go to the capture card.

Also, any PC running OBS needs a non-crappy GPU, even if you use a capture card. So you need a GPU for your 2600k. Assuming you can't use Quicksync (P67 motherboard, for example), then you should look for something like a GTX 460, 550Ti, 650, or better. If you have to buy one new, I recommend a GTX 750Ti, they should run around $100. AMD I'm less familiar with but anything in the last 5 years or so that cost more than $100 when it was new should work.

One more thing, you seem like a pretty ideal candidate to use this option: https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/guide-two-pc-configuration-without-capturecard.6757 , because of your USB audio situation and lack of GPU in your streaming PC.
