Question / Help Streaming PC help - Recording Gameplay

This is sort of off topic but seeing that this forum directly appeals to niche PC community that streams I thought this would still be the best place to ask questions.

So I'm currently building an mATX main PC that I plan to convert to a streaming PC maybe a year or two from now. After it is converted I wanted to build a mega $3000 PC for gaming and fast rendering of videos. What I am dearly confused about is how Twitch streamers record and upload their Twitch streams to YouTube.

Do they:

1. Download their past broadcasts from Twitch or directly upload from Twitch to YouTube?
2. Stream to Twitch and save to streaming PC local HDD?
3. Do they somehow use a NAS type setup?
4. Or is there some way to connect the two computers and have the streaming PC save directly to the eiditng PC?

If option 2 is chosen, how do they transfer their footage from their streaming PC onto their more powerful gaming/editing rig? Or do they simply edit and render footage on the streaming PC as well?

The reason why I am asking this question is I'm currently deciding on an mATX case and I'm wondering if I need a larger one to fit more hard drives to save locally?

It's either option 1 or 2 for most people, by my judgment. It's not hard to transfer a file over the network, or with a simple USB drive if you save locally and transfer to the gaming PC.

So I read up a bit on file sharing over a network and is there a way to save directly to the editing PC in real time? So instead of saving locally to the streaming PC HDD and then transferring it over. Can you just skip to saving it over directly to the editing PC?

Technically, yes, but personally I wouldn't want to rely on a network connection, even over LAN, when saving video. I'd rather save it to the hard drive and then transfer it later.

True I hadn't thought of that.

Thank you for your input. I seem to have forgotten just how much footage a 4TB HDD can hold and will be using that to save locally and then transferring over.

Thanks for the help. :D
