Question / Help Streaming Issue

I've been streaming in my spare time for a bit. I went to stream the new Binding of Isaac upon release yesterday and ran across some issues:

1. When I attempt to do a window capture, the image I get when I preview stream is just a still image of the moment I added the source. For all of the other games I've played, a window capture has worked perfectly.

2. When I try and use game capture instead, the game becomes severely lagged when I click the preview stream button. When I click the stop streaming button, it works perfectly.

I've recently streamed games with no issues that took up more resources (Portal 2 for instance), so I don't imagine it's something on that front. All of the other games have been done via window capture, so I'm unsure if the lag issue is always there for game capture or not. When I use Monitor capture, the game and stream run smoothly.

Any ideas how to fix this?

hey there can you sent a log here ? and if possible show a screenshot of monitor capture settings. And the game you play is that fullscreen or borderless ?

Log was too long to post:

Game is in a window and then I select inner window on the window capture settings.

Hopefully I did that right. I'm not very good with these types of things.

I went ahead and tried to stream portal 2 again just to make sure it wasn't a recent issue that developed, but it ran smoothly.

Alright. The log shows 5 streams or more :P but no problem.
First things first. you should use the 64Bit and make sure to run it as administrator.
Then I think its the best option to use gamecapture.
And about the Resolution of your screen is it "1366 by 768"?

You don't change it in the options mate. Download the 64 bit version on the site. then open it as administrator.

Oh! ok. Yeah, I opened the 64 bit and ran admin, but the same issues are happening.

When selecting the game as a game capture, the game itself lags like crazy until I stop OBS previewing/streaming, and when I use a window capture it's still just an image. Monitor capture continues to work, but I'd rather be able to get it working where I can have other things up as well.

Thank you for taking the time and trying to help. I really do appreciate it.

64-bit is never needed/

Ended up trying a stream out tonight using the monitor capture, but it also lagged the game severely.

I'm at a loss for what's causing it. My other games continue to run smoothly in window capture (some of which take up far more resources than the one I'm trying to play now). I've altered the resolution downscale, the max bitrate, and disable/enabled aero all to no avail.

Blah.

I'm actually having the same exact problem. If anyone know's what wrong or how to fix it please let me know.

EDIT: I think I may have found the problem for me. Closing AMD Gaming Evolvedd/Raptr completely made my stream flawless. Idk if you have it running at the bottom right but if you do close it before playing the game.

the main problem here is that your selceted output resolution is way too high for this cpu especially when you game and stream on the same machine in this case

so downscaling and probably using superfast or even ultrafast preset is what you have to do

@HAYWIRE, sadly mine is not that issue, but I am glad to hear you have fixed the problem :)

@alpinlol, I have tried a downscale of 1.50, 2.0, and 3.0 along with changing the preset to both superfast and ultrafast (each one at a time to make sure I'd seen every combination possible) and it has not fixed the issue. The game is still incredibly laggy when I preview stream and normal when I stop. I've also used the estimator to make sure I have the correct settings, and after playing around with that and making sure it's the same as the suggested settings I've still been unable to detect a difference.

I never figured out a solution to this btw. I've been streaming more consistently since then with some other games (Portal 2 on steam worked flawlessly for example, as did Bastion) but Binding of Isaac Rebirth still won't stream for me.

The game runs perfectly smooth without OBS running. It's just when I hit stream or preview that the game itself gets super choppy and lagged. Has anyone possibly run into this issue since my OP and figured out a fix?

if your using razer porgram (cant remember which one it is) close it
run steam and games as admin
if your using any monitoring software (fraps ,msi afterburner) close them
make sure you dont have steam stream or fps counter enabled
report after checking these

No program running
Steam and games ran as admin
no monitoring software
stream/fps counter disabled

Still not working.

Other steam games stream fine and Isaac played fine until I hit preview stream on OBS. It's so odd, I've asked multiple other people that stream it on twitch and they have no idea what it is :(
