Hello,

I am looking for a capture device that can record both PS2 and PS3 via USB as I want to start getting more active on twitch.tv. I've read that recording from PS3 via HDMI can troublesome due to HDCP, so I've been considering to get a capture device that focuses on YPbPr recording. Can you recommend me any? I am on a tight budget, so the maximum I am willing to spend is ~100€. There is one that I've been looking at, but am not sure if it's worth the money (also it has HDMI, which I will probably not use due to the HDCP issue): http://www.conrad.de/ce/de/product/...HD-Capture-Box/?ref=detview1&rt=detview1&rb=1 The description is German, but you should understand the basic specs of the capture box.
Thanks for any help in advance! <3

You can record HDMI/HDCP content with a 'grey' splitter. Technically they split an HDMI signal, but they're more often bought because they break HDCP and allow recording. HDMI will also get you a much cleaner, clearer picture than component, as it doesn't have to be changed to analog and then back to digital again..

Here's the one I use: www.amazon.com/dp/B004F9LVXC/

I'd also strongly advise saving up for a while longer until your budget can stretch to the $200 range, you'll have much better cards available (like the SC512).

Thanks for the help.
Saving up more is not an option to me as I'm a student and just manage to get by. The only reason why I might be able to afford one is that I won a voucher a while ago. Also, I just want to stream casually and don't have any desire to become a professional or something, so I don't think I need an expensive high end capture device.
Why is USB 2.0 that bad? I understand that there is a delay, but does the delay make recording/playing that difficult? I don't think I've seen any capture box in my price range that actually does support 3.0 ...

I'll be looking into the splitter option, thanks for suggesting :)

Recording no, but you'll need a separate TV/monitor to actually play the game. Also, your reactions on cam/mic will be about 2 seconds ahead of the game. So you'll have to set up your camera and mic delay to compensate, or people will hear the "aw, damn!" about 2 seconds before they see you die in-game. Can really ruin the suspense.
The picture is also lower quality as the capture device has to compress the video so it will fit over USB 2.0's smaller amount of bandwidth. An internal capture card is optimal, as it doesn't have these problems and has a lot more bandwidth available so doesn't generally need to compress the video (as much, if at all).

They work, but they have significant downsides.
