Question / Help Streaming Difficulty

Hello! I just put together my own PC, and I want to start streaming frequently. My understanding is that my internet and computer should both be more than up to the task, but I am having some difficulties.

When I start up my stream, there are some major drops in performance. Before I get into the specifics though, here are my specs.

CPU: i7-2600k overclocked to 4.3MHz
GPU: Nvidia GTX 780
8GB DDR3 RAM
30GB Download, 5GB Upload

I have tweaked the settings of OBS quite a bit and have experienced the same set of problems consistently. I see substantial drops in performance of any game that I play, as well as minor graphical issues and performance issues with things as simple as browsing the web. The most notable of all of these problems, though, is that when I'm streaming League of Legends, when I switch to borderless windowed mode (the only mode suitable for that game), my FPS drops from >100FPS to ~50FPS. This problem is not present in fullscreen (but the UI flickers in fullscreen so that's not an option). This problem has persisted across all resolutions that I've tried to stream at, and has not gone away in spite of all the tweaks to the settings of LoL and OBS that I have tried thus far.

In general, I see very little in the way of a drop in FPS in my games, but things are much more choppy, and much less fluid. This is true even in games that are not graphically demanding. However, when streaming in borderless, League of Legends becomes unpleasant to play due to how choppy it is, and how low the FPS is.

Any help in optimizing my stream would be greatly appreciated, and I would be more than happy to provide any info that might help solve these problems. Thank you!
