Question / Help Streaming Bandwidth

So I was just wondering if anyone actually knew how much data obs uses up to stream. So lets so a 1080p 60fps stream, then 720 60fps stream etc. I read somewhere, a 1080p stream takes 1GB per hour of uptime, is this true? I also heard that downscaling your stream is better due to the fact, if you are not partnered with twitch, twitch auto refuses super high quality streams, so example, it will only let me stream in 480p or I get a lot of frames dropped. Could someone spread some light on this situation.

Depends entirely on your chosen bitrate. Twitch does not want over 3500 kilobit/s (3.5 megabit/s, 0.4375 megabyte/s, ~1.6GB/hour) for non-partners.

Current I have 500GB a month, on fibre with speeds of 100mbps down and 40 mbps up. I read on some other posts, something about being careful if you stream to high because most people in australia still don't have fibre and may be stuck with like a 4mbps down and 0.7 mbps up. If that is the case then most viewers will have issues keeping up with 1080p with 60fps at 3500kbps for the bitrate simply becuase there internet can not handle it. When I fully configured my stream to 1080p, 60fps I watched it live and did not loose any frames nor did the stream lag for me. However some other people were having issues viewing it. Once I turned it down to around 2500kbps which is a pretty safe limit, it was all fixed. Just like if I were to stream with these settings but downscaled it to under 720p or a downscale ratio of 2.0, they said it was all fine.

Your resolution does not matter. Although lower resolutions will work better for lower bitrates.
