Question / Help Stream Settings

Okay, so I've been trying to figure out the best quality vs performance that I can get while streaming. Right now when I'm streaming on Twitch I'm using an Elgato HD60 at 1920 x 1080 downscaled to 1.5 (1280 x 720) with the Lanczoz filter; also my preset is at very fast. My problem is that my CPU usage is on average reaching 85-95% usage. I have an i7 4770k at 3.5 GHz. This just doesn't seem right to me because when asking around other people using the same processor are getting lower CPU usage and can even lower the preset further. Am I missing something here? If I don't downscale and make it native 720p the usage goes down but I think that causes a loss in quality, but I could be wrong.

These are my PC specs:

Motherboard
: GIGABYTE GA-Z87X-UD3H LGA 1150 Intel Z87

Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 780 Ti Super Clocked 3GB

Processor: Intel Core i7-4770K Haswell 3.5GHz

Ram: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 3 TB

SSD: SanDisk Extreme 240 GB

Here's the log:

Your "preset" is on "very high"?

What?

Your CPU encoding preset works in speeds, not levels. I.E. "very fast" or "faster" etc.

Also, the game you are playing obviously makes a huge performance change. BF4 at 120fps is going to pull 4x more CPU than COD: AW at 60fps, leaving less for your stream to use.

Finally, you said "4770K at GHz". You listed 3.5GHz in your PC specs, but I think you were trying to tell us that you OC'd your 4770K. What did you set it to?

Sorry, I corrected the information. The card hasn't been overclocked, I've just been using base clocks. And the preset is very fast. Also, I'm not streaming PC games, this is all console. I'm getting high CPU usage on Halo: MCC and GTA at only 45 fps.

Your CPU is being weird then. I could stream 720p 45fps on "faster" all day every day without hitting high CPU usage. You should make sure it isn't downclocking when streaming, and that other programs are not eating up its performance.

Also, see if you can get it to at least 4GHz with an OC. Check a guide. It'll help.
