Question / Help Stream Quality and Local Recording Quality

Hi there!

I've got a question regarding the stream quality and the local recording quality. Is it possible to stream at 720p with a fixed bitrate and save the whole stream local in a higher quality, for example 1080p 20mbps? Because I want to edit my videos in a better quality after streaming and that's why I need better local recordings...

Hope you can give me an answer!

Sincerely,

Maxbit

At he moment the only way to do this is start multiple instances of OBS with the -multi launch parameter. It is however a planned feature for a future version of OBS.

You can also use Dxtory to hook the game. Dxtory can then be configured to both record a high quality local file and also output as a DirectShow device that can be added to OBS as a video capture source.

For OBS multiple instances:
For DXtory + OBS:

And a third option I used is streaming to a local media server (for example nginx with rtmp module) in high quality, then using a second pc to encode this stream to a different quality and streaming it to twitch or even more than one service.
