Question / Help Stream lag

I just set up OBS and im having stream lag of like 10+ seconds and im not sure why that is.

My specs
i7 4770k
16gb 1886 ram
gtx 780
windows 8.1

Internet speed from testmy.net
Upload( with 33mb test size) 5.6 mbps 697/kbs
Download (with 50mm size) 28.3 mbps 3.5m/s

OBS settings:

Encoding:

Quality Balance: 8
Max Bitrate and buffer: 2400

Video:

1080p scaled down to 720p
60 fps

Advanced:

cpu preset: veryfast
x264 encoding profile: high

I'm guessing you're streaming to Twitch. This is a new 'feature' of their buffering system and is not a problem you cause (or can fix) with OBS.

Use another streaming service if you don't like the new twitch delay.

So there's no way to fix this? I just have to use another program? Why can some people use OBS without the delay

Again, it has nothing to do with OBS, it's how Twitch's new video system works. Read more about it at:

Other than ensuring your settings in OBS match Twitch's streaming requirements or using an entirely different streaming service, there isn't anything you can do to reduce the delay.

You need to enable CBR, and it's recommended (but not required) that you enable CFR and change your profile from high to main.
