Hi guys,
I'm very new to OBS and have very little idea on how to do anything bar the very basics.

I've got a MacBook Air....When I'm streaming on YouTube I can't make any noise or talk near the laptop otherwise the viewers can hear everything that's going on.

Can someone please tell me the exact procedure for a total noob on what I have to do to fix this issue... Also I'm wondering if someone could tell me why my stream on YouTube lags so much. Is it my wifi connection or is it an OBS settings issue.

Any help would be terrific thanks guys
cheers
Mitch

I'm kind of new here as well and not sure exactly what you're trying to do, but...

I would add a "Noise gate" to your audio stream (right click the "cog" next to the slider in the Audio Mixer pane, and select Filters). This will then turn the mike off automatically when you're not talking and turn it back on when you are. The default settings worked for me, but you may need to adjust them for you setup - you want to get it so the audio bar shown nothing when you're not talking and stays active when you are (if you talk too softly, the mike will keep turning off and you will sound "choppy". I am able to type on a reasonably noisy keyboard without it "opening" the noise gate (so, it can't be heard on the stream).

You can also try adding a "Noise suppression" filter (before the gate), as that is quite good at getting rid of background noise (such as PC fans).
