Question / Help Stream is black (I am not trying to stream a game)

All the solutions I have found to this problem rely on the assumption that I am trying to stream a game. This is false. I am only streaming my monitor.

If you absolutely must use it, Monitor capture on switchable graphics laptops REQUIRES you to set OBS to run on the intel graphics and not the nvidia graphics in the nvidia control panel.
