Question / Help Stream in Low Quality and localy record in Higher Quality ?

Hi,

here is the situation I often encounter :

When I have to stream (essentially in HD), I try to get the best quality depending on the connexion quality. But when the upload bandwidth is really limited (like 1 Mega), I have to resize and decrease the bit-rate. So the quality is really poor and it's normal I have no choice but this implies that the local record will also be poor.

Is there a solution to stream with specified settings and recording locally with Higher Quality ?

If not, is it possible to consider this as a new feature? Or is it technically impossible?

This is not currently possible without multiple copies of OBS.

But different copies of OBS cannot access simultaneously to the same capture card, no?

Correct, only one application can access a directshow device at one time. So I suppose you're out of luck for now.

The rewrite of OBS will support recording at multiple bit rates.

Ok JackOr wrote a tuto to explain how to launch multiple OBS and how to capture the output of one OBS occurrence to capture it in the other. So with this config it's possible to locally record a streaming in a different quality with the same capture card :D
