Question / Help Stream getting intense lag and frame rate drops.

So I would previously stream at 720p and had no issues what so ever. I recently upgraded my Graphics card from a 6950 to 7950 and also got a 27inch monitor. Now I am getting intense lag and my frames just plummet when i stream with the same settings.

Things I Have done for sure include: Driver updates... just in case anyone asks.

My OBS settings
-Encoding: QB-10, Max bit- 2150 Buffer size- same
Broadcast settings: Miami
Video Settings: Base Resoluton- Custom 1920 x1080 , Resolution Downscale- 1.50 (1280x720) Filter Bilinear and FPS: 30


I have not touched any of the advanced settings or the audio settings.

I would greatly appreciate some help on this matter thanks in advance.

Well your log file certainly seems to run the gamut, starting at a 1080p60 stream with game capture and ending on a 720p30 stream with monitor capture. You really shouldn't use monitor capture if you can help it unless you switch to Windows 8. Window capture+Aero enabled or game capture would perform much better.

Since you're streaming to Twitch you should probably switch from VBR to CBR, don't use a custom buffer size, lower your audio bitrate to 160 or less, and set your keyframe interval to 2 seconds.

Post a new log file. Make sure you incorporated all the suggested changes and that you stream for at least five minutes of high activity to make it a good statistical sample of your game and stream.

Well TBH I figured out the problem... I just dont know why its a problem.... when i unplugged my 2nd monitor and only had my main monitor hooked up the stream is fine No issues nothing. However this shouldnt affect me at all so im confused.

I've also got a 7900 series radeon and two monitors, and I've never experienced a problem like that before.

When two or more monitors are plugged in, it forces the video card to increase its clock to compensate for the larger picture, so while it's not entirely unreasonable, it still is sort of baffling. Thank you very much for taking the time to figure out what was going on though.

Yea this is a huge inconvenience... I bought the 2nd monitor specifically so i can do other things while streaming now im back to using my laptop and one monitor... its rather silly but I have no idea how to fix this so nothing i can do.

It shouldn't be happening because almost everyone I know has more than one monitor and never has experienced such a problem, and like I said I have the same video card series (7900 series) and I've never experienced anything like that myself either. I unfortunately have no clue why that's happening in your case.
