Hi guys,

Have simple question i guess, BUT i am not able to find answer anywhere :/.
So here it is.

I wanna use obs on my pc to stream to other pc. Not localy, but tru internet like from home to work.
This is complicated ? I totaly dont care what software will be used on client pc (what software will load/read the stream).
I am not able to find any solution on internet, any ideas how to set obs (i expect some custom seting) and what soft to use on client pc (with some setings) ? I belive this must be easy but as i said, i cant find any normal guide for this.
On both sides have pernament ip adres to internet (no dynamic ips). But as usualy both pc will be behind some router.

Thank you

ps: sorry for my english

You posted at 2am. Most of us are on the western side of the planet, and we were asleep. Streaming from PC to PC is a bit difficult at the moment, requires a bit of pain. This will be possible in future versions much more easily though.

Complicated guide to get you started: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=5873 , but not sure that's exactly what you want to do. Note: I haven't needed to do this myself, I just know the guide exists.

Have you considered streaming to Twitch or Justin.tv or whatever, and having your other PC simply watch the stream?

Hello,
it is easy. You can imagine it like i wanna send my pc (monitor) capture video to one friend with minimum latency.
Twitch have +- 20 seconds delay. So that is too much, i wanted something like 2 sec. idealy, and send it directly to him, i dont wanna use any internet portal/ server , why it make only biger delay. It should be like skype, but instead of cam there will be whole monitor, or some app window.

Link what you post is case with two pc, i dont need this, i have one pc, and that is strong enough to do it.

If you want to use OBS to do this, then what Boildown linked to is really what you need to do. You have to set up an RTMP server for OBS to send data to, and then the person who wants to view it has to use a program to watch it, such as VLC or the Video source plugin. There is not a way to send real-time high quality video over the internet with OBS.

Hellooow,

Sorry for thread-necrophilia. This was the most promising source that Google has turned up after extensive searching.

I'm wondering whether there has been any movement on this over the last two years?

My problem is that I'd like to be able to combine and direct two streams from separate locations. Is the best way still to setup your own RMTP server, or has anyone found a simpler way to directly stream from one Windows network to another via the internet?

Also, from what I've seen OBS Studio doesn't seem to allow to import a live stream as a source. Does the classic version have plugins for this? Wirecast Pro is supposedly able to do this (for a grand).

Thanks a bunch!
Mike

You haven't looked at the capabilities of media source or vlc source if you're saying that.

I found it! :)

One has to untick the "local file" box. That was a tad misleading. Alright, now to get nginx running on my macbook.
