Question / Help Stream buffers every 15 sec or so

Hi guys, I have a problem with my stream lagging, and I'm not sure why it is acting up, so I was hoping that you might be able to provide me with some assistance :)

The issue is that the stream buffers every 15 sec or so for all people watching, no matter if I lower the birate or not

I have gone through this faq thread "https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/dropped-frames-disconnecting-lag-read-this-first.8870/" and shaperprobe says I should have no problems.

I added a log in the hopes that it might provide some insight to the problem

Kind regards Nicklas

There isn't really a lot you can do about this. It doesn't matter how good your connection is, it's a problem between the viewer and Twitch.

Try changing your server location. Do you get any yellow/red with the bitrate box while streaming in your OBS window? Are you losing any frames as well?

I've tried switching servers but it does not seem to help at all :( and its all green in terms of the birate - i've also tried with various birates but nothing seems to help

so there is really nothing I can do about this :/?

When has this started happening? Has it always been this way? Have you downloaded any new drivers? Was OBS updated? Also, make sure in your advanced settings, your scene buffer time is at default which is 700.

It has always been this way i'm afraid. And I just tested it on my playstation which also generates the same problem with the stream buffering every 15 sec or so.

and changed the scene buffer time to 700 but the problem is still there :/

But since the problem occurs both when I stream through my playstation and my computer I'm guessing the problem is either with my connection to twitch or with my router ?

You are correct about the connection to twitch or your router? How long have you had both modem and router? Have you reset/refreshed your router? Also, check your firewall settings and add OBS to them. Check your settings in your router. You may have to port forward or open ports.

Well I moved in into an apartment complex roughly 1 year ago, and I only have a router in my apartment. I really don't have any experience with working with routers.
I just tried updating the firmware on it, and also set the nat type to open, not sure what else to do :/ And thank you for taking the time trying to help me out, really means alot :)

No problem man...it sucks to have these issues. I don't think i asked, but what's your upload internet speed?

yeah it really sucks, I used to stream back on xfire I think it was called back in the day, and I had no issues with that, but i've moved since then and gotten a new router etc. Just find it really annoying I can't figure out what the problem is, or how to fix it :(

My speed according to shaperprobe is
"
Estimating capacity:
Upstream: 89750 Kbps.
Downstream: 95015 Kbps.

The measurement will take upto 2.5 minutes. Please wait.

Checking for traffic shapers:

Upstream: No shaper detected.
Median received rate: 63746 Kbps.

Downstream: No shaper detected.
Median received rate: 67946 Kbps.

Well, since you mentioned "new" router, maybe that's your issue, or the router is too powerful for the modem or vice versa. Sometimes opening your ports in the modem is not enough. Contact your ISP and ask them if they can open ports for you. Because your speeds seem fine. Have you tried lower your bitrate to 1000 and working up from there? And in your apt. building, do they provide the internet or leave that up to you?

They provide the internet, so all I have to do is plug in a router and then I have access, and I haven't tried with a 1000 birate but ill give it a shot.

And i'm sorry if I'm asking something that should be implicit, but should I ask them to open specific ports then or just open more ports ?
and thanks again man!

Ok, this is a problem, because your apt. provides the internet, they probably have the ports shut down and a lot of restrictions. Ask your apt. manager if there are any in place and ask what type of service they are using? And is your router just a plain ole router or is it a modem/router combo? Also, the internet is shared with the whole apt. building may be an issue as well.

Just tried with a nax bitrate of 1000 and a buffer size of 1000 and the problem is still there :/
Alright guess I'll have to have a talk with them and ask if they know any solutions. I'm using a netgear n150 router, I think thats just a plain old router.

One other question and may seem stupid, but you'd be surprised...Are you trying to stream wireless?

No I'm using a cable, and tried different ones just to make sure that was not the problem :/
Ok, man...well, good luck. But from what you've stated...you've had no problems streaming with the same PC until you moved into the apt. and are using their internet. So, i just can't seem to think of anything else. Just ask them maybe if you can get your own internet.
