This problem has been happening every time now. I have tried different ways to solve it, but none of it worked. Tried running obs in administrator mode and also uninstalling then installing it again. I have also tried low bitrate and changing the encoder.

I press the stop recording button, it says 'stopping recording' and won't change, I terminate the program to stop it and thus I lose part of my recording.

Here is my obs recording settings.

Is this the right logfile?

No recording starts in this file, and a game capture starts and then stops about 20 minutes later without any recording starting.

This should be the right log file, but im not sure.
The log files should be located in Help>Log Files> Show log files, opened the log file(the one that has the issue) and copied the text within it. Right?
There are some times when it records properly but only small durations or even longer.

The menu has in it both "current log" and "last log".

If that is the log for the incident, then either OBS was crashing before you hit stop, or crashed in response to hitting stop and didn't log your hitting the stop button.

Is there a way to solve it then? Or is it something that i cant fix.

I don't know-- I'd just approach it like any other troubleshooting task.

Make sure OBS is the only thing running.

Try creating new/blank profiles and scene collections and run them to see if the problem occurs. If not, add back my usual elements one by one until it does.

Create a new Windows user and run OBS to see if the problem is associated with some setting in my user account instead of in your OBS profile or scene collection.

MKVs don't need to be finalized, so should be recoverable at least partially after such a problem. How much are you losing off the end of the file? Because I'd wager that whenever the video ends is when your problem really occurred.

ok, i'll try that. (Y)
Whenever I stop recording. I lose the whole recording because I have to close down obs through task manager when that 'stopping recording' happens.

Then I'm thinking the problem is happening when you start recording, because mkvs don't require finalization. You should be able to open up an MKV recording that is still in progress and watch it, and closing OBS from the Task Manager would not affect that.

The problem is that I dont get the file recording when i stop recording obs, since that happens and says stopping recording, I can only close it down with task manager.
I mainly record csgo for now and when i'm in a community server where there isn't anybody inside the server, i can record and stop recording normally. But, when im playing in server like deathmatches(and csgo competitive), the issue will occur again.

What I'm saying is that closing OBS down in the task manager does not delete the file it is recording. You should still be able to open it, even after closing OBS from the task manager. You should also be able to start a recording, navigate to that file, and begin playing it without stopping recording. If you can't, then recording has never started.

If there is no such file, then OBS is having a problem when the recording STARTS, not when it stops, and the reason why it is failing to stop and crashing is because it hasn't actually started.

If I had to guess I'd say it's because you're trying to record at 144fps.

Also, for recording, no need to set CBR, that's for streaming. Use CQP with NVENC and a quality setting (14 is high, 23 is good)

Thanks, i'll try lowering the fps to 60 and changing the CBR. I will reply and write if that fixes or if there are any other problems.

I'v tried recording long durations and the result was it did stop recording now but the thing is, that I dont like recording in 60fps, it doesn't look smooth at all. 144fps may be the reason but I want record in 144fps.

OBS just isn't really intended for that use case, and none of the mainstream platforms yet support framerates over 60, so you're not getting those extra frames except in videos you'd distribute yourself.
