Bug Report Static popping noise while using Extremecap U3

Only happens when I preview or start a cast and then goes away later (maybe minimum of 5-10 seconds and up to 30+). In Recentral it is fine. Using 0.591B. 0.59 and 0.584B had the same results.

If you are outputting sound to desktop, please try enabling the "Use WaveOut audio renderer" option (below the audio device box in the properties for the source) and see if that helps.

I was having the same issue until I saw the addition of "Use WaveOut audio renderer" which seems to have fix the problem.

The issue was if you were using "Output audio to Desktop" then you'd get a really bad static noise (almost like it was an echo and static at the same time). After this happened I decided to try some workaround's but they didn't allow me to utilize Scenes in OBS since the other program took over the card.

Hopefully it helps you out as well ProClub.

Yeah that fixed it.

Ah yeah, I had a feeling that was it. The problem is that Microsofts own DirectSound audio renderer for DirectShow doesn't handle fractional frame rates properly, so while the sound works fine at frame rates like 25 and 50 (PAL), the buffer doesn't get filled properly when using a frame rate such as 29.97 or 59.95 (NTSC), resulting in the audio crackling and popping. Do note however that only "Output audio to desktop" is affected by this, directly outputting the sound to the stream has always worked properly.

The noises sometimes go away after a little while, but the sound still desynchs after a while (usually a few hours), and you have to refresh the capture source. We're hoping to fix this in the OBS rewrite with our own custom audio output that isn't plagued by stupidity like this. The WaveOut renderer is only a workaround for this issue, because it does have some drawbacks. If you adjust the volume for the capture device, this will also affect the volume of the desktop audio being captured by OBS, so do keep that in mind. Mic/aux is unaffected by this.

Hey guys, so I have this problem as well. I tried using the WaveOut workaround which is fine so long as the ExtremeCapU3 is the only source.
However as soon as I add my webcam to the mix (Logitech C615) the issue comes back with a vengeance.
I ensured the webcams audio is disabled (also has the WaveOut box ticked just to be sure) but it doesn't seem to resolve anything.

Any suggestions as it is becoming extremely irritating that both OBS and X-Split are suffering from it (Although you guys seem to be doing far better at handling it quality wise)

For me, the fix was making sure the latest Firmware was on the unit. I had very bad crackling which got better when I started using WaveOut, but it was still present. Updated to the latest Firmware for the U3 and it's now gone completely.

However, I still can't fix this damn freezing issues :( Every 1-5 hours, everything just stops.

I did the firmware update and this did not help. I also switch from "Output audio to desktop" to "Output audio to stream only" and this did not help either. The only fix was "Use WaveOut audio renderer" so it seems this isn't just an issue for "stream to desktop."
