Hi, my nick is Mindbuster and I'm currently trying to start a gaming-stream on Twitch.tv.
Unfortunately, I'm very new to this topic and I'm having a few problems with configuring my stream, even after reading a lot in this forum and by browsing google.
So, here is my data:
Hard-&Software
CPU: Intel i5-3570K
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 460
HDD: SATA
RAM: 10GB DDR3-1333
OS: MS Windows 7 Prof. 64bit
OBS: v0.624b
Internet
I'm getting internet through cable television. My PC is connected to a bridge by cable. The bridge is connected to a router by cable too.
testmy.net says:
~80 Mbps Download (Ran the test 5 times with the 50-MB-option from Amsterdam)
~5.2 Mbps Upload (Ran the test 5 times with the 33-MB-option to Amsterdam)
My OBS Settings
Encoding
Max Bitrate (kb/s): 2500
Buffersize (kbit): 2500
Broadcast Settings
Stream Service: Twitch / Justin.tv
Server: EU: Frankfurt, DE
Video
Resolution Downscale: 1.5 (1280x720)
Filter: Bilinear (fastest)
FPS: 30
Problem-setting
The concrete problem I have, is, that my ping increases when I select the 'Game Capture'. As soon as I'm in the game, my ping goes up to 70 from like 20 and it feels very laggy.
The FPS remain stable at 60 in the game.
The stream itself feels some kind of not-fluent. It's not really lagging, but some kind of slow-moving. I don't know how to describe this any better. I've seen a few friends who are streaming on 30 FPS and it just feels much more fluent. I think this is related to a higher bitrate.
P.S.: I tried to use the "Automatic low latency mode" which can be activated in the advanced options, but it didnt help.
Log
Here is a small log from my last session on the Twitch-Amsterdam server:
http://pastebin.com/iz68QcpD
OBS Log Analyzer says:
Monitor capture detected
One of your scenes appears to be using monitor capture. Monitor capture is the slowest and least efficient method of capturing, and can cause FPS lag on both your stream and your game and will also cause problems capturing full-screen games. Consider using game capture or window capture instead (this does not apply to Windows 8).
Monitor capture with Aero enabled
You are using monitor capture with Aero enabled. This will cause severe performance degradation. If you absolutely must use monitor capture, disable Aero from video settings (this does not apply to Windows 8).
Possible slow server
The server you are streaming to (rtmp://live-ams.justin.tv/app) took 866 ms to connect. This may mean your connection or the server is slow, or the server is far away from you. If you are using twitch.tv, you may want to try using JTVPing to find an optimal server.
3 issues found (2 major, 1 minor).
Comment
I already tried to disable the 'Monitor Capture' and used a 'Window Capture' instead. Also, I disabled Windows Aero. Still, the ping-problem remains unsolved.
Also, I downloaded the JTVPing-Tool and found out that Frankfurt got better stats for me then Amsterdam does. However, to exclude that those lags aren't a Twitch-server-sided-issue, I selected Amsterdam.
Request
Please, help me! There's a lot of Karma to gain.
I'm thankful for every reply. Even when it doesnt help to solve my problem(s).
Thanks!
