Please note that the Ubuntu PPA does currently not include the browser source because of an open issue that causes hangs/crashes with the file dialog on GTK based distros. (Ubuntu standard flavor for example.)

OK. Let's see another option, when I install the SNAP version it has the option "browser" but I lose the NDI plugin, I get stuck, or would I have to install ndi on SNAP?

Unfortunately I personally can't help with the snap because it wasn't made by us / me.
The only thing I remember is that it doesn't use the standard path to load plugins.
Perhaps a Google search can help you further for finding the right path.
