Question / Help Sound from Chrome auto-captured while using VAC(Virtual Audio Cable)

Hello everyone.

Even without any funky configurations... OBS is broadcasting sound from chrome videos being played (like youtube).
What I have is standard configuration, the only modification is that I installed VAC (Only Line 1 active) set the audio source on the scene to VAC Line 1 and... that's it. I mean the source is not speakers device, why is sound being captured from chrome when it shouldn't?

Any idea?

Did you mute the desktop audio?
Of course not, then I wouldn't hear the game myself and other sounds like skype, email and whatnot. Aren't they all supposed to be ignored unless specifically added to be broadcast?

OBS captures your mic and desktop audio by default. You'll need to mute the desktop audio if you only want OBS to record from the VAC Line 1.

I haven't tried it but I'm sure it works, so thank you. If you ask me that's inconvenient, I'd rather it had a Desktop/Default Device audio source option/checkbox.

On a similar note, does it capture sound from "Game Capture" if Desktop is muted?

Only sources that explicitly mention audio capture audio, eg the video device source or video source plugin. Otherwise OBS records audio from whatever endpoints you specify (Mic, Speakers, etc).

"Game Capture" and "Window Capture" do not mention audio. And there is nothing that states desktop/speaker capture either.

Game, monitor and window capture have nothing to do with audio.

Desktop audio and microphone audio are always available, or there would be no way to get audio into OBS. If you have your own custom mixing solution with VAC, then you should mute the desktop audio in OBS and only use the "Mic" (VAC) to capture your mixed audio.

Yeah, I understand that I should mute the "desktop" audio.

I'm just saying while always on microphone is obvious, always on "desktop"(all of computer sounds) is not (thus this post asking what's up in the first place).

I'd prefer it being nothing is broadcast unless explicitly stated. In this case "desktop"(speaker) audio would be broadcast if you explicitly added audio source and chose speakers as the source device.
