Question / Help Sony Vegas full screen not detected as a source

Hi there,

I have recently tried to render my video with Sony Vegas and I noticed that the file size is large and I lose quality on the video. As such, I can use OBS and get both better quality and smaller file size.

The only problem is that when I press the "preview on external monitor" button on Vegas, OBS does not "detect" the external monitor (which is still my main and only monitor) and thus records a black screen.

This can be seen here in this youtube video: http://youtu.be/ZEXxeZPXK4Y

(I can see the video playing in full screen with my eyes, but OBS does not detect it.)

What can I do to fix this?

Cheers in advance.

I'm not sure how Vegas does its fullscreening, but if it's using a DIrectX or OpenGL type of fullscreen function, then you can't use Monitor capture to capture it. You might be able to try with Game capture, but frankly I'd be surprised if that worked, too. If nothing else works, you might have to get a capture card to do what you're trying to do.
