Question / Help Something weird with Avermedia c027 capture card

So, while trying to stream via my capture card, I just open AverMedia on one monitor and use a window capture to capture it. Well, it wasn't working, and I didn't know why. OBS would capture the actual avermedia window, but the box that the game feed should be in was just black. After thinking, I realized I turned aero off for OBS and haven't tried my capture card since. I turned it back on, lo and behold, I could see my console instead of a black box now. Does anyone know a way to fix it so I can keep aero off?

also, when restarting the stream with aero disabled, it would basically display a screenshot of the capture instead of a video feed.

Why aren't you adding the c027 directly to OBS as a video capture device?
with ps3 and ps4 capturing, if you do just a video capture device, it'll throw up an HDCP tag instead of the actual console video feed.

It's not weird, it's perfectly normal. The AVer Media Center application was never meant to be captured, much like other video players and applications that come with capture cards, they output their video to a hardware overlay, a sort of video surface that is not available to Windows itself in any way. You have to turn off Aero if you wish to capture your video input this way.

The HDCP tag is also normal, it's because both the PS3 and PS4 have HDCP encryption enabled at all times. While AverMedia's application will allow you to view the input, it does not allow you to record it. For the PS3, you can use component cables instead, for the PS4... well, there are many ways to strip HDCP from a video signal, I suggest you Google it or something.
