Question / Help Something interesting about downscaling

Currently using a test machine with a Intel i5 2500k and using the integrated Intel HD2000 graphics.

Yes, they are old, but this is not really a streaming machine.

Anyways, I fire up OBS, add my HD60 Pro as a source, and hit preview.

The first thing I notice is that the FPS is between 42-48, and wont go higher, except CPU usage is at 60%.

OBS was set to a base res of 1080p, downscale to 720p via bilinear and set to 60fps.

Strange...

Set the downscale to none, and voila, the preview is showing in 1080p, at 60fps with no issues.

So, what did we learn today: GPU matters.

EDIT: When I tried the Lanczos filter, the FPS went down to 35. RIP.

Those things shouldnt happening on a hardware which cost around 200 € and not everyone could stream in 1080p

Intel iGPUs have never been good at downscaling. I think AMD APUs are pretty decent and also skylake from what I've seen is decent.

I'm sure this has more to do with D3D feature set since all of the above are at least DX11 compat.
