Question / Help [Solved] Light white veil over my recording on VLC

Hello,

I recently installed OBS to replace Fraps (who i considere now outdated). Of course, my use of OBS is strictly for local recording, and I really enjoy this software. However i encounter an annoying problem when i'm using it... indeed, i have like a light white veil superimposed over my recording, no matter if this is in MP4 or FLV. I have tried a bunch of different configurations to fix this issue, but i always have this veil, again and again.

Here's a picture to illustrate my problem:

I'm using "Windows mode on source" on the application "World of Warcraft 1.12.1", i'm not able to select game source for WoW.

My question is very simple: Is there a way to have a pure rendering like the in game one (on the left side of the picture) while recording? It would be very nice to find out, i don't want anymore use fraps after i discovered OBS.

Thank you in advance for any response!
Best regards, Ricardo.

Re: Light white veil superimposed over my recording

This is a problem with whatever you use as your decoder, not with the output from OBS. Check your video decoder options, your levels need to be set to PC (0-255), not TV.

So after doing some research on my computer, i find out where came from the issue, and indeed this don't come from OBS, but from my Nvidia Graphic Card.

I case somebody encounter the same issue, this is what i have changed on my Nvidia Panel to fix her :

If you are using VLC to playback content, I would suggest use 2.1 or later and switching the video renderer to OpenGL. It's the only one that has the right colors. I don't have this problem with other media players, and haven't had to force settings on my GPU drivers since.

Oh, indeed, i'm using VLC 2.1.2 (Rincewind) to playback... and after switching to OpenGL mode in Option -> Video -> Output (even with TV (16-235) settings on my Nvidia Graphic Card) it work like a charm, really nice job guys thanks alot !

Have a nice day ! :-)
