Question / Help [SOLVED] Encoding Overloaded on good computer.

I have been using OBS for quite some time now. However, as of recently I have been having problems while recording with OBS. The problems started when I recieved my new monitor. The monitor is 1080p 144hz (I previously had a 1440x900). I was really excited to get this monitor because I could finally record in 1080p in 60fps. However, all I have met is errors saying that the encoding is overloaded. I tried turning down the fps to 30, but that didn't help, and neither did lowering the resolution to 720p. Even doing both of these at the same time didn't have much improvement. I used to be able to record 720p@60fps with no problem. Please help!

CPU: Ryzen 1600
GPU: Radeon RX 580 Crimson Black
RAM: 16GB DDR4

Could it be something to do with the monitor being 144hz? I honestly have no idea.

Let's hope your monitor doesnt try to do some encoding stuff ;) something else must have changed if it worked for you previously. since you'r doing gpu encoding it should be quite fine. however i ran into quite some annoying issues with using amd gpu with higher refresh rate monitors, but it certainly was possible to use. Have you tried switching back to the other monitor or setting your current one to the same screen res/hz as the other one?

Update to the latest version of OBS.
Disable Windows 10 GameDVR.
Check game capture properties for SLI/Crossfire capture mode and untick it.

I currently am using just one monitor rn. I unplugged the others because I didn't have enough room for them on my desk any more

I already updated to the latest version of OBS. where would I disable Windows 10 GameDVR. I am pretty sure that I don't have it on. When I used to play Minecraft it would pop up, but I haven't opened that in several months.

Your log shows OBS Studio 21.1.0, which is not the latest version. You have to update to OBS Studio 21.1.2 manually from this website (the Home or Download page).

Your log also shows that Game DVR is on. You can disable this in the Windows Settings app under Gaming by toggling the first switches to "Off" in the Game Bar and Game DVR sections.

Please provide a new log file where the problem is still occurring. You may also want to record at a flat FPS, like 60, instead of 59.94, unless you have a specific need to record at a fractional framerate.

Please also look into this:
The Avast/AVG antivirus' Game Mode is known to cause issues with OBS. Having it enabled will essentially render OBS inoperable. You can either disable Game Mode in the options, or uninstall Avast/AVG completely.

Thanks for that. I recently fixed the problem by changing the priority of OBS in task manager to realtime.

Are you using 2 monitors?
no
