So, about once a month I have an issue with OBS where it doesn't allow me to stream. When I click the "start streaming" button I am greeted with a "Failure to connect to DNS" error. I have it completely allowed through my firewalls, and as I said this happens about once a month consistently for the past few months. I am not exactly sure what the issue is as the troubleshooter says that there is no issue. The only thing else I can think of doing is uninstalling OBS and reinstalling it, unless someone can come up with something that will work.

So, still having issues with the Failure to connect to DNS, the log is as follows:

I spoke to one of my friends, who also uses OBS and told me to get OBS for streaming, and he said he wasn't having an issue. I have no idea what else is needed, and by the lack of response it seems like no one else has run into this issue or has no idea what to say.

Every time I attempt to change my DNS server, I can not connect to the internet at all. So that won't end up working. It might be that I am not proficient enough to change my DNS server, however, I have noticed that this issue has only cropped up after the update. I made a comment via twitter about this, and changed my firewall settings (even going so far as to turn them off) which has also not done anything to change the issue. The only option that I have found that has remotely worked has been to completely remove all traces of OBS from my computer and then reinstall the entire thing, however, when I reopen the program after closing it the problem returns.
If it is indeed my own DNS server that needs to be changed, then I might have to find a different way around or a new system to use; mostly because I am not proficient enough to actually change my DNS server without loosing all connection to the internet.

So, combine a god-awful ISP with Windows 8 and you have nothing but issues. As I said a few times in the past, I was not having this issue with the product before the update. Now it is nothing but headaches for the last three days.
It seems to me that you need to have at least a masters degree in computer engineering in order to fix this issue. That or I am a complete and total dolt and have no idea where to even start to fix this. I don't have enough skill to change my DNS or find the non-existant Windows Host File, and modifing the "services.xconfig" means nothing to me at all.

Since the recent update I have been receiving an "Error 11001", which I have commented about in the Bug Thread (https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/error-11001.13735/) . Now the main issue that I have is that I have spoken to my ISP and they have said that it must be the software, as I have no issues connecting to the internet and that should be the only problem that I would have that they can help with... And in the Bug Thread, I have been told that it is the ISPs issue.

As an update to this issue that I have been having, I spoke to Cox Communications (which is my ISP) and from the troubleshooting that they could give me the issue is not on their end. Nothing strange has happened nor has anything changed. So, with the ISP not being at fault, it has progressed to either it being OBS or Twitch... Although I am able to connect to Twitch via my Internet Browser.
If anyone can come up with some solution to this issue, I would be thankful.

Though I can tell you right now we didn't really change any code with the network stuff. I'm probably going to guess that the update and the issue are merely coincidental, though I couldn't say for sure one way or another.

I keep getting this "Failure to connect to the DNS Error 11001". It has been for around the past four to five days. I checked with my ISP (Cox Communications), and they have had no issue. I have checked my firewall settings, nothing odd there; I have even attempted to stream with out my firewall up (which I should never have even thought of). I have checked my own DNS, which after four hours of frustration I set back to dynamic. I even have done the old tech standby of turning the entire system off and then turning it back on.

I think i figured it out. I was having the same problem but my error was 11001, so i checked the twitch server status: http://twitchstatus.com/
I was connected to chicago, and it was the only one offline to me. Changed it, and it was fixed! Go try it out!

Yeah, go to broadcaster settings Luke and change your FMS URL to a different area, Chicago was giving me issues, the only reason i had chose it was because i figured it would be the easiest and quickest to connect to, i switched it to US west california and bam, its up and working again. So it just sounds like it was a more complicated problem than it actually was. Hope this helps.
