My recordings are too dark and quite low quality here are the settings I use.

Make sure you replicate any issues as best you can, which means having any games/apps open and captured, etc. When you're done select Help > Log Files > Upload Current Log File. Copy the URL and paste it here.
I dont think soUse the local recording quality presets in Simple output mode, that should sort out the quality issue.
Did you change any of the color options under Settings > Advanced? Washed-out or too-dark colors are usually the result of something like setting the color range incorrectly.

Im not checking it, it just looks pixely and bad. I'm using VLC to view the video.How are you checking the video quality? Those settings aren't going to output anything that looks bad.
