Question / Help Slow, choppy stream when using OBS, but not when using Shadowplay

Ok, log file should be here:

Ok.. When I stream with Nvidia's Shadowplay, I can turn out a 720p stream, no frame loss, and smooth. Everyone who Ive had watch it have said its fine, perfectly watchable, no issues, etc,.

When I use OBS, I get a slower, choppier stream with vertical lines on occasion (almost like screen tearing when VSync is off on a low refresh monitor). I also notice a pretty large slow-down ingame over running Shadowplay. To the tune of an 8-12fps loss. I would GREATLY prefer using OBS over Shadowplay for a number of reasons so if anyone could help me tweak OBS and figure out what the main issue is here I would VERY MUCH appreciate it.

A quick note: I have tried all three available codecs and the Nvidia codec seems to turn out the best results. The issues are minimized, but still very much present.

I also know my CPU sucks, its on my list of crap to upgrade ASAP. Im worried its simply not enough to use OBS and I'll be stuck with Shadowplay for now, but I wanted to see what you guys thought first.

Thank you!

I'm not an expert and in fact i just made my account here so that i could ask a question myself. I do think however that in my experience that OBS renders with your cpu, where as shadowplay uses the on board h.264encoder to produce the stream without doing any actual on the fly cpu intensive encoding like obs.

What are your PC specs? I'm not entirely sure how to read the log file but I do see where you are downscaling. If i read it correctly. But what bit rate, and how many fps? Also your presets in the advanced section. Those settings play the largest part in stream quality and performance loss while gaming.

Thanks much guys. After some reading I came to understand that Shadowplay doesn't use my CPU, but an onboard encoder - which is why it works and OBS does not.

I thought my CPU could squeak by, but I guess I was wrong, lol. I'll bump it up on my "List of crap to spend money on".

Quick question that's a little off-subject.. Can you use a Canon 7d as your "web cam"?
