Question / Help Skipping frames with anything but very fast

I have a 4.4 GHz AMD FX 9370 processor which i just got with my new computer, 8gb of ram and a GTX 770 and a Avermedia Live Gamer HD (I use it to capture PS4 footage). Everyone that streams with me using this program says it should be fine to encode on the medium preset. Yet I cannot. It is not going past 70% of the CPU usage, and when it drops frames the CPU usage on the task manager just drops to 10 as if I'm not streaming at all. Any Ideas if its just OBS hating my AMD FX 9370 Processor or what? It is driving me absolutely NUTS. Any help from the OBS developers would be greatly appreciated!

To be perfectly honest, Unless you're super anal about quality, Veryfast should be perfectly fine. Unfortunately, might need a dev to see this, as they might have a better idea about the inner workings. Please though, Post your log file.

Hopefully a dev can contact me soon about this. It is super frustrating. I upgraded my computer to use obs in a high quality and the skipping frames problem is driving me nuts D:

What processor do you recommend for running on medium / fast? I thought my 4.4 Ghz processor would be more than enough. :(

The fast preset is extremely CPU intensive. If you're doing 720p60, I wouldn't recommend it unless you had at least a Haswell i7, or an enthusiast-tier Sandy i7 or later.

i would say as a dedicated streaming machine the amd 9370 should be able to put at least 720p60@fast

i'd rather think that you have some amd power savings active @ bios

thought you are using this machine as a dedicated streaming machine

if not you should still be able to output 720p60 @ veryfast preset
