Question / Help Shows it's recording, file is black?

Alright, so here's my problem. In the OBS program screen itself, it shows exactly what should be recording (if I set it to only record a game, only the game shows up. When I check to record the entire screen, that shows up correctly as well.) So it looks completely fine.

But then when I open and watch the file that it recorded, it is just a video with a black screen, a split second of audio at the beginning, and then even the audio cuts out. I made sure to have the mode set to file output only.

I don't know if this is related to my problem, but when I start to record, it also gives me this warning message in red in the bottom left hand corner, that says WARNING: Taking too long to encode

Any ideas? Any help would be much appreciated!

Have you tried using a different media player to view the files? VLC or MPC-HC or something?

"Taking too long to encode" usually means your CPU can't keep up with the encoding at the settings you're trying to use, but the log file will show exactly what's going on there.
