I have a question related to windows 10
Since i updated to windows 10 (the day it was available to download) i noticed that sometimes when i ty to record with shadowplay my screen just freezes.
what i normally do:
so far so good !
sometimes when trying to capture a scene with shadowplay my pc just freezes and the only way to record footage again is to reboot my pc, and i have no idea why this is happing on my pc with windows 10, it never happend with windows 8.1.
so i did some research
- I just played games without streaming in obs and just captured games (shadowplay alt-f5) and i had no problems with freezing screens.
- i installed the lastest nvidia drivers without geforce experience and i had no crash freezes, obs works perfect !

i do still need software to record, wich made me buy Mirillis Action
=>>> i noticed with miriliss action when i opened this first and tried to record it recorded my obs :D
so what i tried then is the following
1)open obs
2)open the game i want to stream (mostly arma III) and then hook the game in obs
3) alt - tab to desktop and open mirillis action
4) go back into the game like 2 seconds later
now i could stream and capture my ingame footage, tried this for a couple of days without any problems or freezes.
Yesterday new nvidia drivers game out for windows 10, so offcourse i tested them to see if my pc was freezing again from time to time, when streaming with obs and whenever i wanted to record a scene with shadowplay.
i already had the freez problem after 1.5 hours.
made me wonder, is it possible that windows 10 does not like when in my case shadowplay sets a hook on a game and also obs sets a hook on a game ?
if i let obs do what it needs to do, capture my game + stream and i set recording software manually (mirillis actions) all is good, but when shadowplay comes in action, i can say when sometimes trying to record => pc freezes.
i even tried this:
open obs => capture the game => alt tab to desktop => activate geforce experience => go back to game
=> but this won't let me record footage <= => damn, so i need to active shadowplay before entering the game and my obs capture once in the game offcourse.
=>> pc freezes after a while, not always but every 2 days i have this problem wich is very annoying.
pc spec: i7 4790k, gtx 770, windows 10 pro
i absolutely love obs and i just wanted to point the issue i had and maybe u guys have some other things to try, or maybe a solution that works for my obs - shadowplay - windows10.
i use the normal version of OBS (latest) not the multiplatform one.
i already made a topic about this issue on reddit nvidia but, there people don't always get the problem i guess.. and point it out to windows 10 drivers wich could be perfect the case doh, wich made me install older drivers for windows 10 (removed older drivers in safemode with DDU) but i still had the same problems with them.
ps: sorry for (maybe) bad English, my main language is Dutch.

what i normally do:
- shadowplay is set to record the latest 9 minutes like it was when i had windows 8.1
- i open my obs and i capture the game i stream, this works perfect.
- when a scene wich i want to record happens in game i press alt-f5 to record this footage with shadowplay (9min) in 1080 60 fps.
so far so good !
